New Adult Class!! Crafting Picture Books

Have you ever wondered what makes some picture books so good that kids (and parents!) want to read them over and over again? Ever have a hankering to write such a story? Come join us as we examine books such as Where the Wild Things Are, Bear Snores On, This Jazz Man, and many more. By the end of the class you will have learned what makes a story compelling to kids, how illustrations and text work together, and be able to identify different styles of picture books. Most importantly, you will have your own stories to share!

This course focuses on the writing of picture books not the actual making of them.

Larissa Theule has an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts as well as a Masters in Education. She believes in the transformative power of a good book.

Sundays 10 am - 11.30am

23rd August, 30th August and 6th September.

Cost 600 RMB for the whole course or 300 RMB per class.

Beginners Oil Painting Class

Learn how to:

learn how mix colours and paint with oil paints
different painting techniques including impasto and dry brush
learn basic colour theory
use drawing in preparation for painting
create your own oil painting on canvas

600 RMB for all three classes paid at the beginning of the first class or 300 RMB per class

Beginners Painting and Drawing Class

This three week course is designed for beginners who want to try out both painting and drawing. Each course is themed based on a subject matter or artist. Great way to explore paint and drawing in a relaxed supportive atmosphere. Who knows you might be the next Picasso!

Drop In Art Class

This art class is especially designed so that you can pursue you own artistic projects but with a trained tutor present to guide you.

This course is ideal for students who are preparing a portfolio of work for university or college.

The Drop in Portfolio Preparation Class is also helpful to IGCSE /IB Art and Design students who need extra time and space with a trained art professional (artist + instructor) to prepare for this examination.

Materials are provided. 1000 RMB for 5 sessions (to be used within 10 weeks)

Drawing back to nature - evening drawing class

A Drawing expert and practising artist offers new drawing course focusing on basic drawings skills. The students will be guided on how to improve their observational drawing skills. For this course we are looking at natural forms and the students will get to try out different types of drawing materials.

This is a great way to socialize and make new friends in the wonderful setting of the studio.

New Evening Class: Exploring Drawing

This 3 week course is purposely designed to reinvigorate your perception of drawing. Allowing a complete beginner and advanced practitioner the opportunity to explore and experiment through drawing. As part of the course you will learn how to draw representationally using conventional techniques and media.

We are uber-excited to be offering this unique foray into drawing which provides experimentation with a variety of traditional materials and a multitude of fascinating, contemporary, creative approaches to drawing and sketching. We are also very pleased to have a new instructor for the course, Lucinda Holmes, and genuinely look forward to sharing her passion for drawing and the arts.

The class begins Tuesday, November 11th and will be held the consecutive 2 Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. The duration of the course is 3 weeks. Tuition for the course is 600RMB.
